I’m back in civilization! I survived three days with no electricity or running water. We even survived a forest fire. Seriously. Picture this: a group of about 10 of us is sitting around the fire late at night, laughing and joking. When all of a sudden, I notice a bright light out of the corner of my eye. It’s not a flashlight. No, it’s a forest fire!
I yell, “FIRE!” at everyone and we break out into a run, grabbing gallons of water on our way. I pause for a second to hang back and yell at the rest of my family sleeping in their tents. All us sprint for the bright, blazing spot amongst the trees. The flames are about 10 feet high but haven’t spread very far yet–maybe about 8 feet. After dozens of gallons of water and two mini fire extinguishers, we manage to put out the flames. It was one of the craziest moments of my life. Because it’s private property and we didn’t get cell signal, this could have been a million times worse. Thankfully, it turned out okay. Whew!
Now, before the fire broke out, I came up with an amazing new dessert. It had the irresistible pairing of chocolate and peanut butter with the smooth sweetness of marshmallow. Behold, the Reese’s S’moreo! This was a recipe born out of necessity–we all thought someone else would bring the s’mores supplies and ended up with 1 bag of marshmallows and 1 box of graham crackers. We were rationing the marshmallows, but were running out of graham crackers so I thought I’d try putting a marshmallow in one of the oreos sitting out on the table… and BOOM! Amazingness was born.
All you need are Reese’s Oreos and some marshmallows.
After roasting your marshmallow, just put the marshmallow between the two cookies and get ready to enjoy a new take on the classic s’more.
